Volunteer at STOP Sex Offenders!
Hi! We're so very glad that you decided to find out about volunteering at STOP Sex Offenders! I personally thank you for taking the time to help us, and in the process help children.
At this time, SSO's National Sex Offender Registry is being checked for dead, updated, & new links approximately once every 2 weeks. The registry is a very important tool for parents, and since it is frequently visited (viewed approx. 2,500 times/day), it needs to be kept up-to-date. For over four years I have manually checked the registry myself - volunteers would greatly make this task easier :). We need to receive status reports as required (See this page for explanation of status reports). SSO is not an organization, and does not receive any money to fund any of the work that is done. Volunteer Positions:
Requirement: Email Us with bi-weekly status report (Lead Registry Checkers), and monthly status reports for Assistant Registry Checkers and Web Safety Surfer positions.
- Lead Registry Checker (Alabama - Idaho) - 1 position available (Duties: Complete manual weekly check of states mentioned on this page: http://www.stopsexoffenders.com/statelistings2.shtml. Make sure that each link is working, note updated URLs, change in sex offender information.)
- Lead Registry Checker (Illinois - Nebraska) - 1 position available (Duties: Complete manual weekly check of states mentioned on this page: http://www.stopsexoffenders.com/statelistings2.shtml. Make sure that each link is working, note updated URLs, change in sex offender information.)
- Lead Registry Checker (Nevada - Oklahoma) - 1 position available (Duties: Complete manual weekly check of states mentioned on this page: http://www.stopsexoffenders.com/statelistings3.shtml. Make sure that each link is working, note updated URLs, change in sex offender information.)
- Lead Registry Checker (Oregon - United Kingdom) - 1 position available (Duties: Complete manual weekly check of states mentioned on this page: http://www.stopsexoffenders.com/statelistings3.shtml. Make sure that each link is working, note updated URLs, change in sex offender information.)
- Assistant Registry Checkers - Unlimited positions available (Duties: Notify SSO of new websites that list sex offender information/registries. Quick spot checks of SSO's National Registry to make sure that each link is working, note updated URLs, change in sex offender information - on the following pages: http://www.stopsexoffenders.com/statelistings2.shtml, and http://www.stopsexoffenders.com/statelistings3.shtml.)
- Web Safety Surfers - Unlimited positions available (Duties: Notify SSO of new websites that endanger children - child pornography, pedophile sites, etc.)
Our main goal right now is to have more frequent updates of the registry. We will give all our volunteers top placement on our Member's page, and include a link to their website if available. If anyone would like any of the above positions, just click on the position and send us the following information:
- Your name (will be listed on Member's page)
- Age
- Email address
- Website (if available - will be displayed on Member's page)
- Position you are interested in
- List any prior Internet experience (include any off-line work in child safety)
- Comments/Questions
