Sex Offenders' Pictures, Addresses Can Be Posted On Internet
INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana Supreme Court Thursday upheld the constitutionality of Indiana's sex offender registry law, including the posting of addresses and pictures of convicted sex offenders on the Internet.
Attorney General Steve Carter called the ruling a victory that will go far in protecting the public.
"It's a resounding, important decision that will benefit families and children," he said, adding that if even one child is protected because of the Internet postings, the legal battle was worthwhile.
In January, the high court issued a stay preventing sheriffs from implementing the law.
