CO: Access to sex-crime registry limited.
January 25, 2003
Many will have to specify threat
The state will place strict restrictions on people who want to obtain a list of convicted sex offenders under a new set of rules that will take effect this week.
The rules, which were obtained by The Associated Press, will limit access to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation's sex-offender registry.
People who reside in a law enforcement department's jurisdiction or neighboring jurisdiction may get information on convicted sex offenders in their hometowns by showing proof of residency.
Those living outside the boundaries will have to specify a threat or the need for protection to obtain information on the CBI's list.
