LINCOLN -- More than 9 percent of those on Nebraska's sex offender list are unaccounted for or failed to register a move, according to newspaper report.

Despite those numbers, officials with the Nebraska State Patrol told the Lincoln Journal Star that the sex offender registry was performing admirably.

About 140 of the 1,515 offenders on the list, which is 9.2 percent of the total, have failed to register a move or are unaccounted for, authorities said.
