MA: SouthCoast putting sex offender registry to work.

Notices informing the public of convicted sex offenders with "a high risk to reoffend" are appearing in town halls, libraries and police stations across SouthCoast.
The notices are an effort to fulfill the requirement that the public be informed about where Level 3 registered sex offenders live and work.
When Dartmouth received word recently that a Level 3 sex offender was working in town, Police Chief Randall M. Medeiros said he wanted to notify as many people as possible. He directed that notices be posted at Town Hall and at the library.
"The purpose of the law is to protect the public and make them aware of any possible and pending dangers," the chief said.
