WI: Supreme Court to decide legality of sex offender registry.

Cases pending before the U.S. Supreme Court could have
major implications for Wisconsin’s sex offender registry,
which contains information about thousands of offenders
living in the state.
"We’re watching it," said Tony Streveler, director of the
Bureau of Offender Programs at the state Department of
Corrections.
Last Monday, the Supreme Court said it would decide
whether to force states to evaluate cases individually
before listing sex offenders on registries. The ruling could
mean separate hearings in more than 20 states — including
Wisconsin — to determine the risk posed by a criminal who
has completed a prison sentence.
