National: National Background Data Announces Safety 1st Volunteer Screening Program.
January 23, 2004
OCALA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 23, 2004--National Background Data, LLC (NBD) (http://www.nationalbackgrounddata.com), announces its new Safety 1st Volunteer Screening Program(SM). This program is available only through a select group of NBD professional background screening company affiliates. The selected affiliates have a unique understanding of volunteer and non-profit organizations and are already providing background-screening services of volunteers.
A Safety 1st Volunteer Screening provides a compiled, comprehensive report that includes, in addition to the criminal data from The National Background Directory(TM), information on the volunteer's previous residence addresses, whether a Social Security number has been issued, maiden and/or married names associated with the SSN, and whether the volunteer's SSN is currently being used by other individuals. The National Background Directory(TM) is one of the largest private-sector criminal history databases in the nation. It draws data from multiple criminal record sources in a total of 47 states and the District of Columbia. It includes criminal data from criminal courts, state criminal record repositories, probation, prison parole and release files, sex offender registries and other government agencies, as well as additional criminal history data proprietary to NBD.
William J. Bollinger, President of NBD stated that: "I am pleased to implement a long standing objective that Bob Holloran and I had when we founded NBD four years ago. Namely, to subsidize increased access to high-quality, FCRA-compliant background checks of volunteers for children and other vulnerable populations."
The purpose of the Safety 1st Volunteer Screening Program(SM) is to aid volunteer and non-profit organizations and agencies in determining whether prospective volunteers have a pattern of criminal behavior that would make it unwise for them to be working with children or other vulnerable populations. Those affiliates selected to offer NBD Safety 1st Volunteer Screenings are equipped to assist in establishing and implementing suitable criteria for screening their volunteers and protect the volunteer's privacy rights.
"Verifications is excited to be one of the first NBD affiliates selected for this new and innovative program," said Jerry Hatton, Chief Operating Officer of Verifications Inc., of Minneapolis, MN. "It fits perfectly with our own initiative for non-profit and volunteer organizations, which is focused on helping these organizations select volunteers suitable to work in these environments. Safety truly comes first in making these `hiring' decisions.
Randy Rodebaugh, President, Southeastern Security Consultants, Inc., of Marietta, GA. stated that: "As one of NBD's initial affiliates, we are thrilled to see the continued product development and support that they provide to our company. The need to provide nationwide coverage in our program was critical, and we found NBD's data and service to be unmatched. Our relationship with NBD began three years ago due to a mutual interest in protecting children through comprehensive background screening of adult volunteers."
