On the Safe Side/Raising Careful, Confident Kids in a Crazy World: About KidWISE

When people ask me why I wrote a book that equips parents and professionals to teach personal safety to children, I tell them there are two reasons. First, I am a parent and want to do everything I can to guarantee my own daughter's safe passage through childhood. Second, I observed that parents were being expected to teach personal safety without the tools and support to do it.

I see this book as a sign of our times, a response to the demand for practical, useful information. I wrote it for every parent, concerned relative, day care provider, teacher, social worker, and healthcare professional. This book reflects my belief that we can safely raise kids in today's world.

About Paula Statman

Paula Statman is the author of "Raising Careful, Confident Kids in a Crazy World" (formerly titled "On the Safe Side,") which received a 1995 Parents' Choice Honor and was published in Russia, China, and Spanish-speaking countries world-wide.
